Natasha Lehner

Natasha Lehner is a graduate student at Duke University's Master of Fine Arts in Experimental and Documentary Arts program. She is currently pursuing a long term research project about her recently discovered biological grandfather, Harvey Karman. Harvey was a passionate women's rights advocate and abortionist operating in pre Roe v. Wade America. Harvey is known around the world for his major contributions within the abortion community, especially his invention of the Karman cannula, a safe and simple device for performing early term abortions. A lesser known fact is that he was also a sperm donor, allowing women to exercise the fullest definition of choice by granting them the option of motherhood. Natasha has since uncovered an entirely new branch of her family and an incredibly rich history that she is unpacking with archive, text, and images.
